English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD)
Valley View Secondary School supports students from non-English speaking backgrounds through 1:1 case management from a teacher.
The English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD) program helps us to provide an effective pathway for students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds who are learning English as an additional language/dialect. The program contributes to the delivery of a culturally inclusive approach by our school to support its multicultural cohort.
Individualised Student Support
On Tuesday afternoons from 3:15 until 4:30pm, VVSS runs a Homework club in the school library. This is an opportunity for all of our students to get extra support or time to work on curriculum.
Many students attend to get specialist support with compulsory subjects like PLP, Research Project, English and Maths.
We have students from all year levels attend who benefit from the extra teacher tutorial time as well as additional screen time.
The HIVE is designed for the delivery of targeted literacy, numeracy and social development intervention programs. For students to have access to The HIVE, students are identified in accordance to their learning needs.
The HIVE is located in the library space under the direct supervision of teachers.
