Year 7 enrolments are carried out by the Department for Education’s public primary schools by completing the ‘Starting Secondary School’ pack and the (ED176). The Department allocates students to secondary schools through the 7 Transition process. This is not decided by the secondary school. You will be notified of your allocated secondary school in mid-August of the year prior to your child starting secondary school.
Key information is provided below to prepare for a successful transition into Secondary School.
Year 7 Transition
The transition from primary to secondary school is a big step for your child. Visiting our site can help them prepare for their new milestone, learn about our school values and feel confident entering high school.
To ease new starters in gently, Valley View Secondary School offers an induction process in Term 4 each year.
Our students follow a timetable of activities and typically experience lessons taught by specialist teachers such as Science, Physical Education, Dance, Music or Food Technology. They are involved in a variety of activities, including finding their way around the school and meeting the teachers. Students will have the opportunity to meet the principal and executive team, house managers, SSO’s and specialist staff.
At Valley View Secondary School we place a lot of effort into making transition days enjoyable for our new students, and to help ease children’s nerves about starting secondary school. If your child does have worries you can always phone the school and you will be directed to the appropriate staff member to discuss additional support.
